Genesis 48:15 — Blessing Rooted in God’s Faithfulness
Jacob grounds Joseph’s blessing in the God of his ancestors and in God’s lifelong care for him.

What this passage means
Jacob blesses Joseph by appealing first to God rather than to Joseph’s merit or circumstances. The God he names is the one before whom Abraham and Isaac walked, connecting this blessing to the God already known and trusted by his fathers.
The second description presents God as the one who has fed Jacob all his life long unto this day. This is a personal testimony of sustained care, not a claim that Jacob’s life was free from difficulty; the chapter itself includes his age, Joseph’s unexpected presence, and his approaching death.
