His journey and mission were marked by the evident favor of God resting upon his life. At the heart of Ezra's ministry was his resolve toward the law of Jehovah. He set his heart to seek the law, to do it, and to teach Israel statutes and ordinances — first to understand God's word, then to practice it personally, and finally to instruct the people faithfully. As a scribe, he became a teacher of God's truth for the returning exiles, grounding them once again in the instruction of the Lord.
