Exodus 20:1-17 The Ten Commandments

The Ten Commandments are the core of God's covenant with Israel. The first four emphasize absolute loyalty and reverence to God: one true God, no idols, honor His name, keep the Sabbath. The last six ensure justice and love among people: honor parents, respect life, purity in marriage, respect property, truthful witness, contentment without coveting. The Ten Commandments are not a means of salvation but the life standard for covenant people, reflecting God's holiness and goodness. In the New Testament, Christ summarized them: love God wholeheartedly and love your neighbor as yourself.
