1.두로 왕 히람이 다윗에게 사신들과 백향목과 석수와 목수를 보내 그의 궁전을 건축하게 하였더라And Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David, and cedar - trees, and masons, and carpenters, to build him a house.
2.다윗이 여호와께서 자기를 이스라엘의 왕으로 삼으신 줄을 깨달았으니 이는 그의 백성 이스라엘을 위하여 그의 나라가 높이 들림을 받았음을 앎이었더라And David perceived that Jehovah had established him king over Israel; for his kingdom was exalted on high, for his people Israel's sake.
3.다윗이 예루살렘에서 또 아내들을 맞아 다윗이 다시 아들들과 딸들을 낳았으니And David took more wives at Jerusalem; and David begat more sons and daughters.
4.예루살렘에서 낳은 아들들의 이름은 삼무아와 소밥과 나단과 솔로몬과And these are the names of the children whom he had in Jerusalem: Shammua, and Shobab, Nathan, and Solomon,
5.입할과 엘리수아와 엘벨렛과and Ibhar, and Elishua, and Elpelet,
6.노가와 네벡과 야비아와and Nogah, and Nepheg, and Japhia,
7.엘리사마와 브엘랴다와 엘리벨렛이었더라and Elishama, and Beeliada, and Eliphelet.
8.다윗이 기름 부음을 받아 온 이스라엘의 왕이 되었다 함을 블레셋 사람들이 듣고 모든 블레셋 사람들이 다윗을 찾으러 올라오매 다윗이 듣고 대항하러 나갔으나And when the Philistines heard that David was anointed king over all Israel, all the Philistines went up to seek David: and David heard of it, and went out against them.
9.블레셋 사람들이 이미 이르러 르바임 골짜기로 쳐들어온지라Now the Philistines had come and made a raid in the valley of Rephaim.
10.다윗이 하나님께 물어 이르되 내가 블레셋 사람들을 치러 올라가리이까 주께서 그들을 내 손에 넘기시겠나이까 하니 여호와께서 그에게 이르시되 올라가라 내가 그들을 네 손에 넘기리라 하신지라And David inquired of God, saying, Shall I go up against the Philistines? and wilt thou deliver them into my hand? And Jehovah said unto him, Go up; for I will deliver them into thy hand.
11.이에 무리가 바알브라심으로 올라갔더니 다윗이 거기서 그들을 치고 다윗이 이르되 하나님이 물을 쪼갬 같이 내 손으로 내 대적을 흩으셨다 하므로 그 곳 이름을 바알브라심이라 부르니라So they came up to Baal-perazim, and David smote them there; and David said, God hath broken mine enemies by my hand, like the breach of waters. Therefore they called the name of that place Baal-perazim.
12.블레셋 사람이 그들의 우상을 그 곳에 버렸으므로 다윗이 명령하여 불에 사르니라And they left their gods there; and David gave commandment, and they were burned with fire.
13.블레셋 사람들이 다시 골짜기를 침범한지라And the Philistines yet again made a raid in the valley.
14.다윗이 또 하나님께 묻자온대 하나님이 이르시되 마주 올라가지 말고 그들 뒤로 돌아 뽕나무 수풀 맞은편에서 그들을 기습하되And David inquired again of God; and God said unto him, Thou shalt not go up after them: turn away from them, and come upon them over against the mulberry-trees.
15.뽕나무 꼭대기에서 걸음 걷는 소리가 들리거든 곧 나가서 싸우라 너보다 하나님이 앞서 나아가서 블레셋 사람들의 군대를 치리라 하신지라And it shall be, when thou hearest the sound of marching in the tops of the mulberry-trees, that then thou shalt go out to battle; for God is gone out before thee to smite the host of the Philistines.
16.이에 다윗이 하나님의 명령대로 행하여 블레셋 사람들의 군대를 쳐서 기브온에서부터 게셀까지 이르렀더니And David did as God commanded him: and they smote the host of the Philistines from Gibeon even to Gezer.
17.다윗의 명성이 온 세상에 퍼졌고 여호와께서 모든 이방 민족으로 그를 두려워하게 하셨더라And the fame of David went out into all lands; and Jehovah brought the fear of him upon all nations.
