중영 대조

1. 1.은이 나는 곳이 있고 금을 제련하는 곳이 있으며Surely there is a mine for silver, And a place for gold which they refine.💡
2. 2.철은 흙에서 캐내고 동은 돌에서 녹여 얻느니라Iron is taken out of the earth, And copper is molten out of the stone.💡
3. 3.사람은 어둠을 뚫고 모든 것을 끝까지 탐지하여 어둠과 죽음의 그늘에 있는 광석도 탐지하되Man setteth an end to darkness, And searcheth out, to the furthest bound, The stones of obscurity and of thick darkness.💡
4. 4.그는 사람이 사는 곳에서 멀리 떠나 갱도를 깊이 뚫고 발길이 닿지 않는 곳 사람이 없는 곳에 매달려 흔들리느니라He breaketh open a shaft away from where men sojourn; They are forgotten of the foot; They hang afar from men, they swing to and fro.💡
5. 5.음식은 땅으로부터 나오나 그 밑은 불처럼 변하였도다As for the earth, out of it cometh bread; And underneath it is turned up as it were by fire.💡
6. 6.그 돌에는 청옥이 있고 사금도 있으며The stones thereof are the place of sapphires, And it hath dust of gold.💡
7. 7.그 길은 솔개도 알지 못하고 매의 눈도 보지 못하며That path no bird of prey knoweth, Neither hath the falcon's eye seen it:💡
8. 8.용맹스러운 짐승도 밟지 못하였고 사나운 사자도 그리로 지나가지 못하였느니라The proud beasts have not trodden it, Nor hath the fierce lion passed thereby.💡
9. 9.사람이 굳은 바위에 손을 대고 산을 뿌리까지 뒤엎으며He putteth forth his hand upon the flinty rock; He overturneth the mountains by the roots.💡
10. 10.반석에 수로를 터서 각종 보물을 눈으로 발견하고He cutteth out channels among the rocks; And his eye seeth every precious thing.💡
11. 11.누수를 막아 스며 나가지 않게 하고 감추어져 있던 것을 밝은 데로 끌어내느니라He bindeth the streams that they trickle not; And the thing that is hid bringeth he forth to light.💡
12. 12.그러나 지혜는 어디서 얻으며 명철이 있는 곳은 어디인고But where shall wisdom be found? And where is the place of understanding?💡
13. 13.그 길을 사람이 알지 못하나니 사람 사는 땅에서는 찾을 수 없구나Man knoweth not the price thereof; Neither is it found in the land of the living.💡
14. 14.깊은 물이 이르기를 내 속에 있지 아니하다 하며 바다가 이르기를 나와 함께 있지 아니하다 하느니라The deep saith, It is not in me; And the sea saith, It is not with me.💡
15. 15.순금으로도 바꿀 수 없고 은을 달아도 그 값을 당하지 못하리니It cannot be gotten for gold, Neither shall silver be weighed for the price thereof.💡
16. 16.오빌의 금이나 귀한 청옥수나 남보석으로도 그 값을 당하지 못하겠고It cannot be valued with the gold of Ophir, With the precious onyx, or the sapphire.💡
17. 17.황금이나 수정이라도 비교할 수 없고 정금 장식품으로도 바꿀 수 없으며Gold and glass cannot equal it, Neither shall it be exchanged for jewels of fine gold.💡
18. 18.진주와 벽옥으로도 비길 수 없나니 지혜의 값은 산호보다 귀하구나No mention shall be made of coral or of crystal: Yea, the price of wisdom is above rubies.💡
19. 19.구스의 황옥으로도 비교할 수 없고 순금으로도 그 값을 헤아리지 못하리라The topaz of Ethiopia shall not equal it, Neither shall it be valued with pure gold.💡
20. 20.그런즉 지혜는 어디서 오며 명철이 머무는 곳은 어디인고Whence then cometh wisdom? And where is the place of understanding?💡
21. 21.모든 생물의 눈에 숨겨졌고 공중의 새에게 가려졌으며Seeing it is hid from the eyes of all living, And kept close from the birds of the heavens.💡
22. 22.멸망과 사망도 이르기를 우리가 귀로 그 소문은 들었다 하느니라Destruction and Death say, We have heard a rumor thereof with our ears.💡
23. 23.하나님이 그 길을 아시며 있는 곳을 아시나니God understandeth the way thereof, And he knoweth the place thereof.💡
24. 24.이는 그가 땅 끝까지 감찰하시며 온 천하를 살피시며For he looketh to the ends of the earth, And seeth under the whole heaven;💡
25. 25.바람의 무게를 정하시며 물의 분량을 정하시며To make a weight for the wind: Yea, he meteth out the waters by measure.💡
26. 26.비 내리는 법칙을 정하시고 비구름의 길과 우레의 법칙을 만드셨음이라When he made a decree for the rain, And a way for the lightning of the thunder;💡
27. 27.그 때에 그가 보시고 선포하시며 굳게 세우시며 탐구하셨고Then did he see it, and declare it; He established it, yea, and searched it out.💡
28. 28.또 사람에게 말씀하셨도다 보라 주를 경외함이 지혜요 악을 떠남이 명철이니라And unto man he said, Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom; And to depart from evil is understanding.💡
