Prophets and Exile
Haggai is the prophet who received the word of the LORD in the second year of King Darius (520 BC), stirring the returned Judean exiles to rebuild the Jerusalem temple and proclaiming that the LORD of hosts would once more shake the heavens and the earth.
Zerubbabel
Zerubbabel, son of Shealtiel and descendant of David, served as governor of Judah and led the returned exiles in rebuilding the temple in Jerusalem, making him a key link to the messianic hope of the Old Testament.
