Barak
Conquest and Judges
Barak, son of Abinoam of Kedesh-naphtali, was summoned during the oppression of Israel by King Jabin of Canaan; he led warriors from Naphtali and Zebulun to Mount Tabor for battle.
Deborah
Deborah was a female judge and prophetess of Israel who led the people out of foreign oppression during the era of the Judges and, together with Barak, sang a song of praise for God's deliverance.
Ehud
Ehud, the left-handed son of Gera of the tribe of Benjamin, was raised up by the LORD as a deliverer who struck down Eglon king of Moab and freed Israel from Moabite oppression.
Gideon
Gideon was a judge from the clan of the Abiezrites in the tribe of Manasseh, named Jerubbaal after tearing down Baal's altar; he defeated the Midianites with a deliberately reduced army, demonstrating that salvation belongs to God alone.
Jephthah
Jephthah was a mighty warrior of Gilead, born to a harlot, later appointed by the elders as judge and commander against the Ammonites; his rash vow led to the tragic fate of his only daughter.
Othniel
Othniel, son of Kenaz and Caleb's younger brother, is recorded in Judges as the first saviour raised up by the LORD to deliver Israel from the oppression of Cushan-rishathaim.
