- 1.凡报复的,必受主的报复,主必坚立他的罪。He that takes vengeance will suffer vengeance from the Lord, and he will firmly establish his sins.
- 2.宽恕你的邻舍他所犯的错,你祷告的时候,你的罪也必被赦免。Forgive your neighbor the wrong he has done, and then your sins will be pardoned when you pray.
- 3.一个人对另一个人怀恨在心,又如何向上帝寻求治愈呢!Does a man harbor anger against another, and yet seek for healing from the Lord?
- 4.他难道就不怜悯与自己一样的人,却为自己的罪祷告吗!Does he have no mercy toward a man like himself, and yet pray for his own sins?
- 5.他自己是血肉之躯,如果他存着怒气,谁能为他的罪赎罪呢!If he himself, being flesh, maintains wrath, who will make expiation for his sins?
- 6.记住你一生的结局,停止争竞,记住毁灭和死亡,遵守诫命。Remember the end of your life, and cease from enmity, remember destruction and death, and be true to the commandments.
- 7.记住诫命,不要对你的邻舍发怒;记住至高者的盟约,就可以忽略他们的无知。Remember the commandments, and do not be angry with your neighbor; remember the covenant of the Most High, and overlook ignorance.
- 8.远离纷争,你就减少了罪过;因为性情暴躁的人会煽动纷争,Refrain from strife, and you will lessen sins; for a man given to anger will kindle strife,
- 9.罪人会扰乱朋友,并在和平的人中间播下仇恨的种子。and a sinful man will disturb friends and inject enmity among those who are at peace.
- 10.火柴的多少决定了火焰的大小,争斗的强烈程度决定了仇恨的深度,人的力量决定了他的愤怒程度,财富的多寡决定了他发怒的程度In proportion to the fuel for the fire, so will be the burning, and in proportion to the obstinacy of strife will be the burning; in proportion to the strength of the man will be his anger, and in proportion to his wealth he will heighten his wrath.
- 11.草率的争吵引发火焰,急迫的争斗流血。A hasty quarrel kindles fire, and urgent strife sheds blood.
- 12.邪恶的舌头 如果你对着火花吹气,它就会发光;如果你对着它吐口水,它就会被熄灭;而且两者都来自你的嘴巴。The Evil Tongue If you blow on a spark, it will glow; if you spit on it, it will be put out; and both come out of your mouth.
- 13.咒诅那些传播谣言和欺骗的人,因为他们已经毁灭了许多安居乐业的人。Curse the whisperer and deceiver, for he has destroyed many who were at peace.
- 14.谤言使许多人震惊,四散到各国,毁灭了坚固的城邑,倾覆了伟人之家。Slander has shaken many, and scattered them from nation to nation, and destroyed strong cities, and overturned the houses of great men.
- 15.诽谤赶走了勇敢的妇女,并夺走了她们劳动的果实。Slander has driven away courageous women, and deprived them of the fruit of their toil.
- 16.听从谤言的人不得安宁,也不能安居乐业。Whoever pays heed to slander will not find rest, nor will he settle down in peace.
- 17.鞭子的打击只会引起皮肤的肿胀,但舌头的打击却能使骨头粉碎。The blow of a whip raises a welt, but a blow of the tongue crushes the bones.
- 18.许多人死在刀剑之下,但更多的人死在舌头之下。Many have fallen by the edge of the sword, but not so many as have fallen because of the tongue.
- 19.得蒙保佑不受其害,不曾遭其愤怒,不曾负其轭,不曾被其锁链捆绑;Happy is the man who is protected from it, who has not been exposed to its anger, who has not borne its yoke, and has not been bound with its fetters;
- 20.因为它的轭是铁轭,它的锁链是铜锁链;for its yoke is a yoke of iron, and its fetters are fetters of bronze;
- 21.它的死亡是一种恶死,哈德斯比它好。its death is an evil death, and Hades is preferable to it.

- 25.为你的言语制作天平和秤,为你的嘴巴制作门和闩。make balances and scales for your words, and make a door and a bolt for your mouth.
- 26.小心你的舌头,免得你跌倒在埋伏你的人面前。Beware lest you err with your tongue, lest you fall before him who lies in wait.
