9. 9.摩西的岳父叶忒罗因为耶和华待以色列的一切好处，就是拯救他们脱离埃及人的手，便欢喜快乐。And Jethro rejoiced over all the kindness that GOD had shown Israel in delivering them from the Egyptians.💡
10. 10.耶和华是应当称颂的，摩西的岳父叶忒罗说，他救了你们脱离埃及人和法老的手，也救了百姓脱离埃及人的手。“Blessed be GOD,” Jethro said, “who delivered you from the Egyptians and from Pharaoh, and who delivered the people from under the hand of the Egyptians.💡

13. 13.第二天，摩西在百姓中间坐着审判，百姓从早到晚都站在摩西左右。Next day, Moses sat as magistrate among the people, while the people stood about Moses from morning until evening. 💡
14. 14.摩西的岳父看见他为百姓所做的一切事，就说："你向百姓做的是什么事呢？你为什么独自坐着，众百姓从早到晚都站在你左右呢？"But when Moses’ father-in-law saw how much he had to do for the people, he said, “What is this thing that you are doing to the people? Why do you act alone, while all the people stand about you from morning until evening?”💡
15. 15.摩西对岳父说：“这是因为百姓到我这里来求问神。”Moses replied to his father-in-law, “It is because the people come to me to inquire of God. 💡
16. 16.他们有争讼的时候，就到我这里来，我便在两造之间施行判断，我又将神的律例和教训指示他们。When they have a dispute, it comes before me, and I decide between one party and another, and I make known the laws and teachings of God.”💡
17. 17.摩西的岳父对他说：“你做的这事不好；But Moses’ father-in-law said to him, “The thing you are doing is not right; 💡
18. 18.你必疲惫不堪，你和这些百姓也必如此；因为这事对你太重，你独自一人不能胜任。you will surely wear yourself out, and these people as well. For the task is too heavy for you; you cannot do it alone. 💡
19. 19.现在你听我说，我给你出个主意，愿神与你同在。你要在神面前代表百姓，将争讼的事带到神面前。Now listen to me. I will give you counsel, and God be with you! You represent the people before God: you bring the disputes before God, 💡
20. 20.又将律例和法度教训他们，使他们知道所当行的道，当作的事。and enjoin upon them the laws and the teachings, and make known to them the way they are to go and the practices they are to follow. 💡
21. 21.你要从百姓中选出有才能、敬畏上帝、忠信可靠、憎恶不义之财的人，派他们做千夫长、百夫长、五十夫长和十夫长，You shall also seek out, from among all the people, those who are capable and who fear God—trustworthy ones who spurn ill-gotten gain. Set these over them as chiefs of thousands, hundreds, fifties, and tens, and 💡
22. 22.让他们随时审判百姓。凡有大事，可以呈到你这里；一切小事，他们自己可以审判。这样，你就轻省些，他们也可以与你一同担当责任。let them judge the people at all times. Have them bring every major dispute to you, but let them decide every minor dispute themselves. Make it easier for yourself by letting them share the burden with you. 💡
23. 23.你若这样行——神也这样吩咐你——你就能承受得住，这些百姓也都可以平平安安地回家。If you do this—and God so commands you—you will be able to bear up; and all these people too will go home unwearied.”💡
24. 24.摩西听从了他岳父的话，照他所说的去行。Moses heeded his father-in-law and did just as he had said.💡
25. 25.摩西从以色列众人中拣选有才能的人，立他们为百姓的首领，作千夫长、百夫长、五十夫长和十夫长。Moses chose those who were capable out of all Israel, and appointed them heads over the people—chiefs of thousands, hundreds, fifties, and tens; 💡
26. 26.他们随时审判百姓：艰难的事就呈到摩西面前；各样小事他们自己审判。and they judged the people at all times: the difficult matters they would bring to Moses, and all the minor matters they would decide themselves. 💡
27. 27.于是摩西为岳父送行，他就回自己的地方去了。Then Moses bade his father-in-law farewell, and he went his way to his own land.💡
