- 1.当耶和华你神将要给你为业的那地,发现有人被杀死倒在田野里,没有人知道是谁杀的,If, in the land that the ETERNAL your God is assigning you to possess, someone slain is found lying in the open, the identity of the slayer not being known,
- 2.你们的长老和官长要出去,从尸体测量到周围城市的距离。your elders and magistrates shall go out and measure the distances from the corpse to the nearby towns.
- 3.死人的尸体所在的最近的城里,长老要取一头从未被耕作、从未拉过轭的母牛犊;The elders of the town nearest to the corpse shall then take a heifer that has never been worked, which has never pulled in a yoke;
- 4.当地的长老要将那头牛牵到一个永远有水、没有耕种和撒种的河谷里,在河谷里,他们要把牛的脖子折断。and the elders of that town shall bring the heifer down to an everflowing wadi, which is not tilled or sown. There, in the wadi, they shall break the heifer’s neck.

- 6.然后死人所在的地方最近的城里所有的长老都要把手洗在山谷里打断脖子的母牛上。Then all the elders of the town nearest to the corpse shall wash their hands over the heifer whose neck was broken in the wadi.
- 7.他们要声明说:我们的手没有流这血,我们的眼也没有看见它。And they shall make this declaration: “Our hands did not shed this blood, nor did our eyes see it done.
- 8.永恒的上帝啊,求你赦免你救赎的以色列子民,不要让无辜人的血债留在你子民以色列中间。这样,他们就可以免除血债。Absolve, O ETERNAL One, Your people Israel whom You redeemed, and do not let guilt for the blood of the innocent remain among Your people Israel.” And they will be absolved of bloodguilt.
- 9.这样,你们就能从中间除掉无辜血的罪责,因为你们在上帝眼中行了公正的事。Thus you will remove from your midst guilt for the blood of the innocent, for you will be doing what is right in GOD’s sight.

- 11.你在战俘中看见一个美丽的女人,喜欢她,想要娶她为妻;and you see among the captives a beautiful woman and you desire her and would take her to wife;
- 12.你将她带入你的家中,她剃去头发,修剪指甲,and you bring her into your household, and she trims her hair, pares her nails,
- 13.然后她脱去被掳时的衣服,住在你家里,為她的父母哭泣一个月,之后你可以与她亲近,她就成为你的妻子。and discards her captive’s garb; and she spends a month’s time in your household lamenting her father and mother: after that you may come to her and thus become her husband, and she shall be your wife.
- 14.然后,你若不喜悦她,就要把她放免,她可以自由去,不可为钱卖她,因为你已经夺用了她,不可亏负她。Then, should you no longer want her, you must release her outright. You must not sell her for money: since you had your will of her, you must not enslave her.
- 15.若有人有两个妻子,一个是所爱的,一个是所不爱的,所爱的和所不爱的都给他生了儿子,长子却是所不爱的妻子生的,If a man has two wives, one loved and the other unloved, and both the loved and the unloved have borne him sons, but the first-born is the son of the unloved one—
- 16.他立自己的产业给他的儿子们的时候,不可将爱的妻子的儿子立为长子,而是将不爱的妻子的儿子,若是他年龄较大,应当立他为长子。when he wills his property to his sons, he may not treat as first-born the son of the loved one in disregard of the son of the unloved one who is older.
- 17.他必须接受长子,即那不受爱的妻子所生的儿子,并且要给他双份的财产,这是因为他是他力量的开始,长子权是他的。这里的双份是指他要拥有两份遗产。Instead, he must accept the first-born, the son of the unloved one, and allot to him a double portion of all he possesses; since he is the first fruit of his vigor, the birthright is his due.
- 18.若有人有一个顽梗不服的儿子,不听从父母的话,即使管教他,他还是不听从,If a man has a wayward and defiant son, who does not heed his father or mother and does not obey them even after they discipline him,
- 19.他父母要拿着他,带他到本城的长老那里,就是会众的门口。his father and mother shall take hold of him and bring him out to the elders of his town at the public place of his community.
- 20.他们要对他城里的长老说,我们这个儿子顽梗不孝,不听从我们的话,是贪食好酒的人。They shall say to the elders of his town, “This son of ours is disloyal and defiant; he does not heed us. He is a glutton and a drunkard.”
- 21.于是,他所在城里的居民要用石头将他打死。这样,你们就把邪恶从你们中间除掉,全以色列都要听见并害怕。Thereupon the people of his town shall stone him to death. Thus you will sweep out evil from your midst: all Israel will hear and be afraid.
- 22.如果有人犯了该死的罪,被判死刑,你又把尸体挂在木杆上,If someone is guilty of a capital offense and is put to death, and you impale the body on a stake,
- 23.你不可让尸体在柱子上过夜,必须当天埋葬,因为被挂在柱子上的尸体是对上帝的侮辱,你不可亵渎上帝你神所赐给你居住的土地。you must not let the corpse remain on the stake overnight, but must bury it the same day. For an impaled body is an affront to God: you shall not defile the land that the ETERNAL your God is giving you to possess.
