- 1.以色列啊,你要听!你就要过约旦河,去占据比你强大和人口多的国家:有墙壁高如天的大城;Hear, O Israel! You are about to cross the Jordan to go in and dispossess nations greater and more populous than you: great cities with walls sky-high;
- 2.一个强大且身材高大的民族,亚拿基人,你们都知道的,因为你们听说过,“有谁能抵挡亚拿基人的子孙呢?”a people great and tall, the Anakites, of whom you have knowledge; for you have heard it said, “Who can stand up to the children of Anak?”
- 3.你今日要知道,除了你神永恒者以外,没有别的神与你同在,他是一团烈火,必将在你面前消灭他们,并使他们在你面前低头,这样你就可以赶快地将他们赶出并毁灭他们,正如神所应许你的。Know then this day that none other than the ETERNAL your God is crossing at your head, a devouring fire; it is [God] who will wipe them out—subduing them before you, that you may quickly dispossess and destroy them, as GOD promised you.
- 4.当永恒的神你的神将他们从你面前赶出的时候,你们不要对自己说,“神使我们得这地,是因为我们的义德”,其实是因为那些国家的邪恶,神才在你面前将他们赶出。And when the ETERNAL your God has thrust them from your path, say not to yourselves, “GOD has enabled us to possess this land because of our virtues”; it is rather because of the wickedness of those nations that GOD is dispossessing them before you.
- 5.这不是因为你们的义德和正直,才能承受他们的土地;而是因为那些国家的邪恶,永恒的神你们的神将在你们面前赶出那些国家,并且是要实现神向你们的祖先亚伯拉罕、以撒和雅各所立的誓言。It is not because of your virtues and your rectitude that you will be able to possess their country; but it is because of their wickedness that the ETERNAL your God is dispossessing those nations before you, and in order to fulfill the oath that GOD made to your fathers Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
- 6.你们要知道,耶和华你们的神将这美好的地赐给你们占据,并不是因为你们有义,这是因为你们是顽梗不化的。Know, then, that it is not for any virtue of yours that the ETERNAL your God is giving you this good land to possess; for you are a stiffnecked people.
- 7.记住,不要忘记,你们在旷野如何激怒你们的上帝,从你们离开埃及地的那天直到你们来到这里,你们一直悖逆神。Remember, never forget, how you provoked the ETERNAL your God to anger in the wilderness: from the day that you left the land of Egypt until you reached this place, you have continued defiant toward GOD.
- 8.在何烈山,你们激怒了上帝,以至于上帝对你们发怒,要灭绝你们。At Horeb you so provoked GOD that GOD was angry enough with you to have destroyed you.
- 9.我已经上山去领受石板,就是上帝与你们立约的约版,我在山上住了四十天四十夜,不吃饭也不喝水。I had ascended the mountain to receive the tablets of stone, the Tablets of the Covenant that GOD had made with you, and I stayed on the mountain forty days and forty nights, eating no bread and drinking no water.
- 10.永恒的神将两张石板赐给我,这石板是用神的指头写的,上面写着永恒的神在山上火中,在集会的日子里,对你们所说的话。And the ETERNAL gave me the two tablets of stone inscribed by the finger of God, with the exact words that the ETERNAL had addressed to you on the mountain out of the fire on the day of the Assembly.
- 11.在那些四十天四十夜的末了,神把两块石板,就是约版,赐给我。At the end of those forty days and forty nights, GOD gave me the two tablets of stone, the Tablets of the Covenant.
- 12.上帝对我说,快点,立刻从这里下去,因为你从埃及领出来的百姓行了恶事,他们很快就偏离了我吩咐他们走的道路,为自己铸造了一个铸像。And GOD said to me, “Hurry, go down from here at once, for the people whom you brought out of Egypt have acted wickedly; they have been quick to stray from the path that I enjoined upon them; they have made themselves a molten image.”
- 13.上帝又对我说,“我看见这是一百姓顽梗不化。GOD further said to me, “I see that this is a stiffnecked people.
- 14.任凭我吧,我要灭绝他们, 从天下消除他们的名, 使你成为一个比他们多得多的国家。Let Me alone and I will destroy them and blot out their name from under heaven, and I will make you a nation far more numerous than they.”
- 15.我开始下山,这座山烈火熊熊,两块约定的牌在我的两手中。I started down the mountain, a mountain ablaze with fire, the two Tablets of the Covenant in my two hands.
- 16.我看见你们违背了你们的上帝永恒主,你们为自己铸造了一个铸造的牛犊,你们很快就偏离了上帝吩咐你们走的道路。I saw how you had sinned against the ETERNAL your God: you had made yourselves a molten calf; you had been quick to stray from the path that GOD had enjoined upon you.
- 17.于是,我用两只手握住两块石板,将它们远远地扔掉,在你们眼前打碎了它们。Thereupon I gripped the two tablets and flung them away with both my hands, smashing them before your eyes.
- 18.我俯伏在神面前,不吃饭也不喝水,连续四十天四十夜,像以前一样,因为你们所犯的罪是大逆不道,行事触怒神。I threw myself down before GOD—eating no bread and drinking no water forty days and forty nights, as before—because of the great wrong you had committed, doing what displeased and vexed GOD.
- 19.因为我害怕神对你们的烈怒,要把你们灭绝,所以那时神也听从了我。—For I was in dread of the fierce anger against you that moved GOD to wipe you out. And that time, too, GOD gave heed to me.—
- 20.此外,上帝对亚伦的怒气大到要灭他的时候,我也为亚伦代求了。—Moreover, GOD was angry enough with Aaron to have destroyed him; so I also interceded for Aaron at that time.—
- 21.至于你们所制造的那件罪恶之物——牛犊,我将它取来扔在火中,打碎并磨得极细,直到它变得像尘土一样,然后将它的尘土抛入从山上流下的小河中。As for that sinful thing you had made, the calf, I took it and put it to the fire; I broke it to bits and ground it thoroughly until it was fine as dust, and I threw its dust into the brook that comes down from the mountain.
- 22.你们又在塔伯拉、在玛撒、在基博罗哈塔瓦再次惹动了上帝。Again you provoked GOD at Taberah, and at Massah, and at Kibroth-hattaavah.
- 23.当上帝从加低斯巴尼亚差派你们的时候,说:“你们上去占领我所赐给你们的地”,你们违背了你们的上帝永恒主的命令,不信靠他,也不听从他。And when GOD sent you on from Kadesh-barnea, saying, “Go up and take possession of the land that I am giving you,” you flouted the command of the ETERNAL your God—whom you did not put your trust in nor obey.
- 24.自从我认识你以来,你一直对上帝充满挑衅之心。As long as I have known you, you have been defiant toward GOD.
- 25.当我在上帝面前俯伏了四十天四十夜,因为上帝决心要毁灭你们,When I lay prostrate before GOD those forty days and forty nights, because GOD was determined to destroy you,
- 26.我祷告神说,求我的主神不要灭绝你自己的子民,就是你曾用大能和大手救赎他们脱离埃及的。I prayed to GOD and said, “O my Sovereign GOD, do not annihilate Your very own people, whom You redeemed in Your majesty and whom You freed from Egypt with a mighty hand.
- 27.求你顾念你的仆人亚伯拉罕、以撒、雅各,不要顾念这百姓的顽梗、恶行和罪过。Give thought to Your servants Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and pay no heed to the stubbornness of this people, its wickedness, and its sinfulness.
- 28.否则我们从中被救出来的那国人会说,『是因为上帝无力把他们带进他所应许给他们的土地,并且因为上帝厌弃他们,所以他把他们带出来,让他们在旷野死去。』Else the country from which You freed us will say, ‘It was because GOD was powerless to bring them into the land promised to them, and because of having rejected them, that he brought them out to have them die in the wilderness.’
- 29.然而他们是您自己的子民,是您用大能和伸出来的臂膀所拯救的。Yet they are Your very own people, whom You freed with Your great might and Your outstretched arm.”
