1.Por tanto, Job, oye ahora mis razones, Y escucha todas mis palabras.Howbeit, Job, I pray thee, hear my speech, And hearken to all my words.
2.He aquí yo abriré ahora mi boca, Y mi lengua hablará en mi garganta.Behold now, I have opened my mouth; My tongue hath spoken in my mouth.
3.Mis razones declararán la rectitud de mi corazón, Y lo que saben mis labios, lo hablarán con sinceridad.My words shall utter the uprightness of my heart; And that which my lips know they shall speak sincerely.
4.El espíritu de Dios me hizo, Y el soplo del Omnipotente me dio vida.The Spirit of God hath made me, And the breath of the Almighty giveth me life.
5.Respóndeme si puedes; Ordena tus palabras, ponte en pie.If thou canst, answer thou me; Set thy words in order before me, stand forth.
6.Heme aquí a mí en lugar de Dios, conforme a tu dicho; De barro fui yo también formado.Behold, I am toward God even as thou art: I also am formed out of the clay.
7.He aquí, mi terror no te espantará, Ni mi mano se agravará sobre ti.Behold, my terror shall not make thee afraid, Neither shall my pressure be heavy upon thee.
8.De cierto tú dijiste a oídos míos, Y yo oí la voz de tus palabras que decían:Surely thou hast spoken in my hearing, And I have heard the voice of thy words, saying,
9.Yo soy limpio y sin defecto; Soy inocente, y no hay maldad en mí.I am clean, without transgression; I am innocent, neither is there iniquity in me:
10.He aquí que él buscó reproches contra mí, Y me tiene por su enemigo;Behold, he findeth occasions against me, He counteth me for his enemy:
11.Puso mis pies en el cepo, Y vigiló todas mis sendas.He putteth my feet in the stocks, He marketh all my paths.
12.He aquí, en esto no has hablado justamente; Yo te responderé que mayor es Dios que el hombre.Behold, I will answer thee, in this thou art not just; For God is greater than man.
13.¿Por qué contiendes contra él? Porque él no da cuenta de ninguna de sus razones.Why dost thou strive against him, For that he giveth not account of any of his matters?
14.Sin embargo, en una o en dos maneras habla Dios; Pero el hombre no entiende.For God speaketh once, Yea twice, though man regardeth it not.
15.Por sueño, en visión nocturna, Cuando el sueño cae sobre los hombres, Cuando se adormecen sobre el lecho,In a dream, in a vision of the night, When deep sleep falleth upon men, In slumberings upon the bed;
16.Entonces revela al oído de los hombres, Y les señala su consejo,Then he openeth the ears of men, And sealeth their instruction,
17.Para quitar al hombre de su obra, Y apartar del varón la soberbia.That he may withdraw man from his purpose, And hide pride from man;
18.Detendrá su alma del sepulcro, Y su vida de que perezca a espada.He keepeth back his soul from the pit, And his life from perishing by the sword.
19.También sobre su cama es castigado Con dolor fuerte en todos sus huesos,He is chastened also with pain upon his bed, And with continual strife in his bones;
20.Que le hace que su vida aborrezca el pan, Y su alma la comida suave.So that his life abhorreth bread, And his soul dainty food.
21.Su carne desfallece, de manera que no se ve, Y sus huesos, que antes no se veían, aparecen.His flesh is consumed away, that it cannot be seen; And his bones that were not seen stick out.
22.Su alma se acerca al sepulcro, Y su vida a los que causan la muerte.Yea, his soul draweth near unto the pit, And his life to the destroyers.
23.Si tuviese cerca de él Algún elocuente mediador muy escogido, Que anuncie al hombre su deber;If there be with him an angel, An interpreter, one among a thousand, To show unto man what is right for him;
24.Que le diga que Dios tuvo de él misericordia, Que lo libró de descender al sepulcro, Que halló redención;Then God is gracious unto him, and saith, Deliver him from going down to the pit, I have found a ransom.
25.Su carne será más tierna que la del niño, Volverá a los días de su juventud.His flesh shall be fresher than a child's; He returneth to the days of his youth.
26.Orará a Dios, y éste le amará, Y verá su faz con júbilo; Y restaurará al hombre su justicia.He prayeth unto God, and he is favorable unto him, So that he seeth his face with joy: And he restoreth unto man his righteousness.
27.El mira sobre los hombres; y al que dijere: Pequé, y pervertí lo recto, Y no me ha aprovechado,He singeth before men, and saith, I have sinned, and perverted that which was right, And it profited me not:
28.Dios redimirá su alma para que no pase al sepulcro, Y su vida se verá en luz.He hath redeemed my soul from going into the pit, And my life shall behold the light.
29.He aquí, todas estas cosas hace Dios Dos y tres veces con el hombre,Lo, all these things doth God work, Twice, yea thrice, with a man,
30.Para apartar su alma del sepulcro, Y para iluminarlo con la luz de los vivientes.To bring back his soul from the pit, That he may be enlightened with the light of the living.
31.Escucha, Job, y óyeme; Calla, y yo hablaré.Mark well, O Job, hearken unto me: Hold thy peace, and I will speak.
32.Si tienes razones, respóndeme; Habla, porque yo te quiero justificar.If thou hast anything to say, answer me: Speak, for I desire to justify thee.
33.Y si no, óyeme tú a mí; Calla, y te enseñaré sabiduría.If not, hearken thou unto me: Hold thy peace, and I will teach thee wisdom.
