1.Hijo mío, guarda mis razones, Y atesora contigo mis mandamientos.My son, keep my words, And lay up my commandments with thee.
2.Guarda mis mandamientos y vivirás, Y mi ley como las niñas de tus ojos.Keep my commandments and live; And my law as the apple of thine eye.
3.Lígalos a tus dedos; Escríbelos en la tabla de tu corazón.Bind them upon thy fingers; Write them upon the tablet of thy heart.
4.Di a la sabiduría: Tú eres mi hermana, Y a la inteligencia llama parienta;Say unto wisdom, Thou art my sister; And call understanding thy kinswoman:
5.Para que te guarden de la mujer ajena, Y de la extraña que ablanda sus palabras.That they may keep thee from the strange woman, From the foreigner that flattereth with her words.
6.Porque mirando yo por la ventana de mi casa, Por mi celosía,For at the window of my house I looked forth through my lattice;
7.Vi entre los simples, Consideré entre los jóvenes, A un joven falto de entendimiento,And I beheld among the simple ones, I discerned among the youths, A young man void of understanding,
8.El cual pasaba por la calle, junto a la esquina, E iba camino a la casa de ella,Passing through the street near her corner; And he went the way to her house,
9.A la tarde del día, cuando ya oscurecía, En la oscuridad y tinieblas de la noche.In the twilight, in the evening of the day, In the middle of the night and in the darkness.
10.Cuando he aquí, una mujer le sale al encuentro, Con atavío de ramera y astuta de corazón.And, behold, there met him a woman With the attire of a harlot, and wily of heart.
11.Alborotadora y rencillosa, Sus pies no pueden estar en casa;(She is clamorous and wilful; Her feet abide not in her house:
12.Unas veces está en la calle, otras veces en las plazas, Acechando por todas las esquinas.Now she is in the streets, now in the broad places, And lieth in wait at every corner.)
13.Se asió de él, y le besó. Con semblante descarado le dijo:So she caught him, and kissed him, And with an impudent face she said unto him:
14.Sacrificios de paz había prometido, Hoy he pagado mis votos;Sacrifices of peace-offerings are with me; This day have I paid my vows.
15.Por tanto, he salido a encontrarte, Buscando diligentemente tu rostro, y te he hallado.Therefore came I forth to meet thee, Diligently to seek thy face, and I have found thee.
16.He adornado mi cama con colchas Recamadas con cordoncillo de Egipto;I have spread my couch with carpets of tapestry, With striped cloths of the yarn of Egypt.
17.He perfumado mi cámara Con mirra, áloes y canela.I have perfumed my bed With myrrh, aloes, and cinnamon.
18.Ven, embriaguémonos de amores hasta la mañana; Alegrémonos en amores.Come, let us take our fill of love until the morning; Let us solace ourselves with loves.
19.Porque el marido no está en casa; Se ha ido a un largo viaje.For the man is not at home; He is gone a long journey:
20.La bolsa de dinero llevó en su mano; El día señalado volverá a su casa.He hath taken a bag of money with him; He will come home at the full moon.
21.Lo rindió con la suavidad de sus muchas palabras, Le obligó con la zalamería de sus labios.With her much fair speech she causeth him to yield; With the flattering of her lips she forceth him along.
22.Al punto se marchó tras ella, Como va el buey al degolladero, Y como el necio a las prisiones para ser castigado;He goeth after her straightway, As an ox goeth to the slaughter, Or as one in fetters to the correction of the fool;
23.Como el ave que se apresura a la red, Y no sabe que es contra su vida, Hasta que la saeta traspasa su corazón.Till an arrow strike through his liver; As a bird hasteth to the snare, And knoweth not that it is for his life.
24.Ahora pues, hijos, oídme, Y estad atentos a las razones de mi boca.Now therefore, my sons, hearken unto me, And attend to the words of my mouth.
25.No se aparte tu corazón a sus caminos; No yerres en sus veredas.Let not thy heart decline to her ways; Go not astray in her paths.
26.Porque a muchos ha hecho caer heridos, Y aun los más fuertes han sido muertos por ella.For she hath cast down many wounded: Yea, all her slain are a mighty host.
27.Camino al Seol es su casa, Que conduce a las cámaras de la muerte.Her house is the way to Sheol, Going down to the chambers of death.
