1.수아 사람 빌닷이 대답하여 이르되Then answered Bildad the Shuhite, and said,
2.너희가 어느 때에 가서 말의 끝을 맺겠느냐 깨달으라 그 후에야 우리가 말하리라How long will ye hunt for words? Consider, and afterwards we will speak.
3.어찌하여 우리를 짐승으로 여기며 부정하게 보느냐Wherefore are we counted as beasts, And are become unclean in your sight?
4.울분을 터뜨리며 자기 자신을 찢는 사람아 너 때문에 땅이 버림을 받겠느냐 바위가 그 자리에서 옮겨지겠느냐Thou that tearest thyself in thine anger, Shall the earth be forsaken for thee? Or shall the rock be removed out of its place?
5.악인의 빛은 꺼지고 그의 불꽃은 빛나지 않을 것이요Yea, the light of the wicked shall be put out, And the spark of his fire shall not shine.
6.그의 장막 안의 빛은 어두워지고 그 위의 등불은 꺼질 것이요The light shall be dark in his tent, And his lamp above him shall be put out.
7.그의 활기찬 걸음이 피곤하여지고 그가 마련한 꾀에 스스로 빠질 것이니The steps of his strength shall be straitened, And his own counsel shall cast him down.
8.이는 그의 발이 그물에 빠지고 올가미에 걸려들며For he is cast into a net by his own feet, And he walketh upon the toils.
9.그의 발 뒤꿈치는 덫에 치이고 그의 몸은 올무에 얽힐 것이며A gin shall take him by the heel, And a snare shall lay hold on him.
10.그를 잡을 덫이 땅에 숨겨져 있고 그를 빠뜨릴 함정이 길목에 있으며A noose is hid for him in the ground, And a trap for him in the way.
11.무서운 것이 사방에서 그를 놀라게 하고 그 뒤를 쫓아갈 것이며Terrors shall make him afraid on every side, And shall chase him at his heels.
12.그의 힘은 기근으로 말미암아 쇠하고 그 곁에는 재앙이 기다릴 것이며His strength shall be hunger-bitten, And calamity shall be ready at his side.
13.질병이 그의 피부를 삼키리니 곧 사망의 장자가 그의 지체를 먹을 것이며The members of his body shall be devoured, Yea, the first-born of death shall devour his members.
14.그가 의지하던 것들이 장막에서 뽑히며 그는 공포의 왕에게로 잡혀가고He shall be rooted out of his tent where he trusteth; And he shall be brought to the king of terrors.
15.그에게 속하지 않은 자가 그의 장막에 거하리니 유황이 그의 처소에 뿌려질 것이며There shall dwell in his tent that which is none of his: Brimstone shall be scattered upon his habitation.
16.밑으로 그의 뿌리가 마르고 위로는 그의 가지가 시들 것이며His roots shall be dried up beneath, And above shall his branch be cut off.
17.그를 기념함이 땅에서 사라지고 거리에서는 그의 이름이 전해지지 않을 것이며His remembrance shall perish from the earth, And he shall have no name in the street.
18.그는 광명으로부터 흑암으로 쫓겨 들어가며 세상에서 쫓겨날 것이며He shall be driven from light into darkness, And chased out of the world.
19.그는 그의 백성 가운데 후손도 없고 후예도 없을 것이며 그가 거하던 곳에는 남은 자가 한 사람도 없을 것이라He shall have neither son nor son's son among his people, Nor any remaining where he sojourned.
20.그의 운명에 서쪽에서 오는 자와 동쪽에서 오는 자가 깜짝 놀라리라They that come after shall be astonished at his day, As they that went before were affrighted.
21.참으로 불의한 자의 집이 이러하고 하나님을 알지 못하는 자의 처소도 이러하니라Surely such are the dwellings of the unrighteous, And this is the place of him that knoweth not God.
