1.벨은 엎드러졌고 느보는 구부러졌도다 그들의 우상들은 짐승과 가축에게 실렸으니 너희가 떠메고 다니던 그것들이 피곤한 짐승의 무거운 짐이 되었도다Bel boweth down, Nebo stoopeth; their idols are upon the beasts, and upon the cattle: the things that ye carried about are made a load, a burden to the weary beast.
2.그들은 구부러졌고 그들은 일제히 엎드러졌으므로 그 짐을 구하여 내지 못하고 자기들도 잡혀 갔느니라They stoop, they bow down together; they could not deliver the burden, but themselves are gone into captivity.
3.야곱의 집이여 이스라엘 집에 남은 모든 자여 내게 들을지어다 배에서 태어남으로부터 내게 안겼고 태에서 남으로부터 내게 업힌 너희여Hearken unto me, O house of Jacob, and all the remnant of the house of Israel, that have been borne by me from their birth, that have been carried from the womb;
4.너희가 노년에 이르기까지 내가 그리하겠고 백발이 되기까지 내가 너희를 품을 것이라 내가 지었은즉 내가 업을 것이요 내가 품고 구하여 내리라and even to old age I am he, and even to hoar hairs will I carry you; I have made, and I will bear; yea, I will carry, and will deliver.
5.너희가 나를 누구에게 비기며 누구와 짝하며 누구와 비교하여 서로 같다 하겠느냐To whom will ye like me, and make me equal, and compare me, that we may be like?
6.사람들이 주머니에서 금을 쏟아 내며 은을 저울에 달아 도금장이에게 주고 그것으로 신을 만들게 하고 그것에게 엎드려 경배하며Such as lavish gold out of the bag, and weigh silver in the balance, they hire a goldsmith, and he maketh it a god; they fall down, yea, they worship.
7.그것을 들어 어깨에 메어다가 그의 처소에 두면 그것이 서 있고 거기에서 능히 움직이지 못하며 그에게 부르짖어도 능히 응답하지 못하며 고난에서 구하여 내지도 못하느니라They bear it upon the shoulder, they carry it, and set it in its place, and it standeth, from its place shall it not remove: yea, one may cry unto it, yet can it not answer, nor save him out of his trouble.
8.너희 패역한 자들아 이 일을 기억하고 장부가 되라 이 일을 마음에 두라Remember this, and show yourselves men; bring it again to mind, O ye transgressors.
9.너희는 옛적 일을 기억하라 나는 하나님이라 나 외에 다른 이가 없느니라 나는 하나님이라 나 같은 이가 없느니라Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me;
10.내가 시초부터 종말을 알리며 아직 이루지 아니한 일을 옛적부터 보이고 이르기를 나의 뜻이 설 것이니 내가 나의 모든 기뻐하는 것을 이루리라 하였노라declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times things that are not yet done; saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure;
11.내가 동쪽에서 사나운 날짐승을 부르며 먼 나라에서 나의 뜻을 이룰 사람을 부를 것이라 내가 말하였은즉 반드시 이룰 것이요 계획하였은즉 반드시 시행하리라calling a ravenous bird from the east, the man of my counsel from a far country; yea, I have spoken, I will also bring it to pass; I have purposed, I will also do it.
12.마음이 완악하여 공의에서 멀리 떠난 너희여 내게 들으라Hearken unto me, ye stout-hearted, that are far from righteousness:
13.내가 나의 공의를 가깝게 할 것인즉 그것이 멀지 아니하나니 나의 구원이 지체하지 아니할 것이라 내가 나의 영광인 이스라엘을 위하여 구원을 시온에 베풀리라I bring near my righteousness, it shall not be far off, and my salvation shall not tarry; and I will place salvation in Zion for Israel my glory.
