1. 1.디베료 황제가 통치한 지 열다섯 해 곧 본디오 빌라도가 유대의 총독으로, 헤롯이 갈릴리의 분봉 왕으로, 그 동생 빌립이 이두래와 드라고닛 지방의 분봉 왕으로, 루사니아가 아빌레네의 분봉 왕으로,Now in the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar, Pontius Pilate being governor of Judaea, and Herod being tetrarch of Galilee, and his brother Philip tetrarch of the region of Ituraea and Trachonitis, and Lysanias tetrarch of Abilene,💡
2. 2.안나스와 가야바가 대제사장으로 있을 때에 하나님의 말씀이 빈 들에서 사가랴의 아들 요한에게 임한지라in the high-priesthood of Annas and Caiaphas, the word of God came unto John the son of Zacharias in the wilderness.💡
3. 3.요한이 요단 강 부근 각처에 와서 죄 사함을 받게 하는 회개의 세례를 전파하니And he came into all the region round about the Jordan, preaching the baptism of repentance unto remission of sins;💡
4. 4.선지자 이사야의 책에 쓴 바 광야에서 외치는 자의 소리가 있어 이르되 너희는 주의 길을 준비하라 그의 오실 길을 곧게 하라as it is written in the book of the words of Isaiah the prophet, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make ye ready the way of the Lord, Make his paths straight.💡
5. 5.모든 골짜기가 메워지고 모든 산과 작은 산이 낮아지고 굽은 것이 곧아지고 험한 길이 평탄하여질 것이요Every valley shall be filled, And every mountain and hill shall be brought low; And the crooked shall become straight, And the rough ways smooth;💡
6. 6.모든 육체가 하나님의 구원하심을 보리라 함과 같으니라And all flesh shall see the salvation of God.💡
7. 7.요한이 세례 받으러 나아오는 무리에게 이르되 독사의 자식들아 누가 너희에게 일러 장차 올 진노를 피하라 하더냐He said therefore to the multitudes that went out to be baptized of him, Ye offspring of vipers, who warned you to flee from the wrath to come?💡
8. 8.그러므로 회개에 합당한 열매를 맺고 속으로 아브라함이 우리 조상이라 말하지 말라 내가 너희에게 이르노니 하나님이 능히 이 돌들로도 아브라함의 자손이 되게 하시리라Bring forth therefore fruits worthy of repentance, and begin not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham.💡
9. 9.이미 도끼가 나무 뿌리에 놓였으니 좋은 열매 맺지 아니하는 나무마다 찍혀 불에 던져지리라And even now the axe also lieth at the root of the trees: every tree therefore that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.💡
10. 10.무리가 물어 이르되 그러면 우리가 무엇을 하리이까And the multitudes asked him, saying, What then must we do?💡
11. 11.대답하여 이르되 옷 두 벌 있는 자는 옷 없는 자에게 나눠 줄 것이요 먹을 것이 있는 자도 그렇게 할 것이니라 하고And he answered and said unto them, He that hath two coats, let him impart to him that hath none; and he that hath food, let him do likewise.💡
12. 12.세리들도 세례를 받고자 하여 와서 이르되 선생이여 우리는 무엇을 하리이까 하매And there came also publicans to be baptized, and they said unto him, Teacher, what must we do?💡
13. 13.이르되 부과된 것 외에는 거두지 말라 하고And he said unto them, Extort no more than that which is appointed you.💡
14. 14.군인들도 물어 이르되 우리는 무엇을 하리이까 하매 이르되 사람에게서 강탈하지 말며 거짓으로 고발하지 말고 받는 급료를 족한 줄로 알라 하니라And soldiers also asked him, saying, And we, what must we do? And he said unto them, Extort from no man by violence, neither accuse any one wrongfully; and be content with your wages.💡
15. 15.백성들이 바라고 기다리므로 모든 사람들이 요한을 혹 그리스도신가 심중에 생각하니And as the people were in expectation, and all men reasoned in their hearts concerning John, whether haply he were the Christ;💡
16. 16.요한이 모든 사람에게 대답하여 이르되 나는 물로 너희에게 세례를 베풀거니와 나보다 능력이 많으신 이가 오시나니 나는 그의 신발끈을 풀기도 감당하지 못하겠노라 그는 성령과 불로 너희에게 세례를 베푸실 것이요John answered, saying unto them all, I indeed baptize you with water; but there cometh he that is mightier than I, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: he shall baptize you in the Holy Spirit and in fire:💡
17. 17.손에 키를 들고 자기의 타작 마당을 정하게 하사 알곡은 모아 곳간에 들이고 쭉정이는 꺼지지 않는 불에 태우시리라whose fan is in his hand, thoroughly to cleanse his threshing-floor, and to gather the wheat into his garner; but the chaff he will burn up with unquenchable fire.💡
18. 18.또 그 밖에 여러 가지로 권하여 백성에게 좋은 소식을 전하였으나With many other exhortations therefore preached he good tidings unto the people;💡
19. 19.분봉 왕 헤롯은 그의 동생의 아내 헤로디아의 일과 또 자기가 행한 모든 악한 일로 말미암아 요한에게 책망을 받고but Herod the tetrarch, being reproved by him for Herodias his brother's wife, and for all the evil things which Herod had done,💡
20. 20.그 위에 한 가지 악을 더하여 요한을 옥에 가두니라added this also to them all, that he shut up John in prison.💡
21. 21.백성이 다 세례를 받을새 예수도 세례를 받으시고 기도하실 때에 하늘이 열리며Now it came to pass, when all the people were baptized, that, Jesus also having been baptized, and praying, the heaven was opened,💡
22. 22.성령이 비둘기 같은 형체로 그의 위에 강림하시더니 하늘로부터 소리가 나기를 너는 내 사랑하는 아들이라 내가 너를 기뻐하노라 하시니라and the Holy Spirit descended in a bodily form, as a dove, upon him, and a voice came out of heaven, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased.💡
23. 23.예수께서 가르치심을 시작하실 때에 삼십 세쯤 되시니라 사람들이 아는 대로는 요셉의 아들이니 요셉의 위는 헬리요And Jesus himself, when he began to teach, was about thirty years of age, being the son (as was supposed) of Joseph, the son of Heli,💡
24. 24.그 위는 맛닷이요 그 위는 레위요 그 위는 멜기요 그 위는 얀나요 그 위는 요셉이요the son of Matthat, the son of Levi, the son of Melchi, the son of Jannai, the son of Joseph,💡
25. 25.그 위는 맛다디아요 그 위는 아모스요 그 위는 나훔이요 그 위는 에슬리요 그 위는 낙개요the son of Mattathias, the son of Amos, the son of Nahum, the son of Esli, the son of Naggai,💡
