3.他们洁净了圣所,又另造了一座祭坛,击打火石取火,献上了祭物,在经过两年的时间后,他们烧香,点燃灯,并摆上了陈设饼。They purified the sanctuary, and made another altar of sacrifice; then, striking fire out of flint, they offered sacrifices, after a lapse of two years, and they burned incense and lighted lamps and set out the bread of the Presence.
4.他们这样做完了以后,俯伏在地,祈求主不要再让他们遭遇这样的灾难,如果他们将来再得罪主,愿主用宽容的心管教他们,不将他们交给亵渎神和残暴的外邦人。And when they had done this, they fell prostrate and besought the Lord that they might never again fall into such misfortunes, but that, if they should ever sin, they might be disciplined by him with forbearance and not be handed over to blasphemous and barbarous nations.
5.正是在异族亵渎圣所的同一天,圣所的洁净也在同一天进行,即同月的二十五日,乃是九月。It happened that on the same day on which the sanctuary had been profaned by the foreigners, the purification of the sanctuary took place, that is, on the twenty-fifth day of the same month, which was Chislev.
6.他们欢乐地庆祝了八天,以节帐的方式,记得不久前,在节帐期间,他们曾像野兽一样在山里和洞穴里流浪。And they celebrated it for eight days with rejoicing, in the manner of the feast of booths, remembering how not long before, during the feast of booths, they had been wandering in the mountains and caves like wild animals.

Unable to command the respect due his office, he took poison and ended his life.

17.他们奋力攻击,夺取了这些地方,击退了所有在墙上作战的人,并杀死了他们遇到的所有人,杀死的人数不少于两万。Attacking them vigorously, they gained possession of the places, and beat off all who fought upon the wall, and slew those whom they encountered, killing no fewer than twenty thousand.

20.但与西蒙同来的那些贪财的人,被城楼上的人贿赂,收了七万银币,就放走了其中一些人。But the men with Simon, who were money-hungry, were bribed by some of those who were in the towers, and on receiving seventy thousand drachmas let some of them slip away.
21.当马加比听说这件事的消息时,他召集了人民的领袖,指责这些人用金钱出卖了自己的兄弟,并释放了敌人来对抗他们。When word of what had happened came to Maccabe′us, he gathered the leaders of the people, and accused these men of having sold their brethren for money by setting their enemies free to fight against them.

25.当他靠近时,马加比和他的男人们把尘土洒在头上,用麻布束腰,向神祈求。As he drew near, Maccabe′us and his men sprinkled dust upon their heads and girded their loins with sackcloth, in supplication to God.

30.他们用自己的盔甲和武器围绕着马加比,保护他免受伤害,并且向敌人射箭投石,使敌人陷入混乱和迷失方向的状态,最后被打得溃不成军,伤亡惨重。Surrounding Maccabe′us and protecting him with their own armor and weapons, they kept him from being wounded. And they showered arrows and thunderbolts upon the enemy, so that, confused and blinded, they were thrown into disorder and cut to pieces.
31.二万五千人被杀,还有六百名骑兵。Twenty thousand five hundred were slaughtered, besides six hundred horsemen.
32.提摩太自己逃到一个叫加撒的要塞,这个要塞守卫特别严密,卡雷阿斯是守将。Timothy himself fled to a stronghold called Gazar′a, especially well garrisoned, where Chae′reas was commander.
33.于是,马加比和他的战士们都很高兴,他们围攻要塞四天。Then Maccabe′us and his men were glad, and they besieged the fort for four days.
34.里面的人靠着地方的坚固,极其亵渎,口出恶言。The men within, relying on the strength of the place, blasphemed terribly and hurled out wicked words.
35.但在第五天黎明时,马加比的军队中有二十个年轻人,因受到了亵渎神灵的言语而怒火中烧,勇敢地冲上城墙,并以凶猛的愤怒杀死他们遇到的每一个人。But at dawn of the fifth day, twenty young men in the army of Maccabe′us, fired with anger because of the blasphemies, bravely stormed the wall and with savage fury cut down every one they met.
36.其他人也以同样的方式上去,转身对抗守卫者,并点燃了攻城塔;他们燃起火焰,活活烧死了亵渎神明的人。还有人破开城门,让剩下的军队进入,于是他们占领了这座城市。Others who came up in the same way wheeled around against the defenders and set fire to the towers; they kindled fires and burned the blasphemers alive. Others broke open the gates and let in the rest of the force, and they occupied the city.
37.他们杀死了藏在水池里的提摩太和他的兄弟哈埃瑞斯,以及阿波罗法内斯。They killed Timothy, who was hidden in a cistern, and his brother Chae′reas, and Apolloph′anes.
38.他们做完这些事以后,唱着圣歌,赞美感谢主,因为他向以色列人施展大慈爱,并且使他们得胜。When they had accomplished these things, with hymns and thanksgivings they blessed the Lord who shows great kindness to Israel and gives them the victory.
