Androni′cus came to Oni′as, and resorting to treachery offered him sworn pledges and gave him his right hand, and in spite of his suspicion persuaded Oni′as to come out from the place of sanctuary; then, with no regard for justice, he immediately put him out of the way.
- 35.因此,不仅是犹太人,许多其他国家的人也为这位人的不公正谋杀而感到悲痛和不满。For this reason not only Jews, but many also of other nations, were grieved and displeased at the unjust murder of the man.
- 36.国王从基利家回来了,以城里的犹太人为王诉说奥尼亚斯被无故杀害一事,希腊人也同样憎恨这桩罪行。When the king returned from the region of Cilic′ia, the Jews in the city appealed to him with regard to the unreasonable murder of Oni′as, and the Greeks shared their hatred of the crime.
- 37.因此,安条克心中感到悲痛,充满了怜悯之情,因为死者过度的节制和良好的行为举止而哭泣;Therefore Anti′ochus was grieved at heart and filled with pity, and wept because of the moderation and good conduct of the deceased;

The Lord thus repaid him with the punishment he deserved.

- 40.由于众人越发激动,充满愤怒,吕西马库斯便武装了大约三千人,在一个名叫奥拉诺斯的老人领导下发动了不公正的攻击,这个老人不仅年纪大,而且愚蠢至极。And since the crowds were becoming aroused and filled with anger, Lysim′achus armed about three thousand men and launched an unjust attack, under the leadership of a certain Aura′nus, a man advanced in years and no less advanced in folly.
- 41.但当犹太人知道了利西马库斯的进攻,有些人捡起石头,有些人捡起木头,还有些人捡起散落在地上的灰尘,乱糟糟地向利西马库斯和他的军队扔去。But when the Jews became aware of Lysim′achus’ attack, some picked up stones, some blocks of wood, and others took handfuls of the ashes that were lying about, and threw them in wild confusion at Lysim′achus and his men.
- 42.因此,他们击伤了许多人,杀死了一些人,并使所有人四散逃跑;他们在宝库附近杀死了那个强盗自己。As a result, they wounded many of them, and killed some, and put them all to flight; and the temple robber himself they killed close by the treasury.

- 44.王到达推罗时,元老院派来的三个人将此事呈奏给他。When the king came to Tyre, three men sent by the senate presented the case before him.

- 46.于是托勒密把王拉到柱廊里,假装要休息,劝说王改变主意。Therefore Ptol′emy, taking the king aside into a colonnade as if for refreshment, induced the king to change his mind.
- 47.使一切灾祸发生的梅拿拉,被他宣判无罪,而那些不幸的人,却被判处死刑,他们本来可以被释放,如果他们即使是在斯基泰人面前辩护也会被宣判无罪。Menela′us, the cause of all the evil, he acquitted of the charges against him, while he sentenced to death those unfortunate men, who would have been freed uncondemned if they had pleaded even before Scyth′ians.
- 48.于是,为城市、乡村和圣器说话的人很快遭受了不公正的惩罚。And so those who had spoken for the city and the villages and the holy vessels quickly suffered the unjust penalty.
- 49.因此,甚至推罗人也表明了他们对这罪行的憎恨,为他们提供了豪华的葬礼。Therefore even the Tyr′ians, showing their hatred of the crime, provided magnificently for their funeral.
