1.上帝对亚伯兰说：“你要离开你的native land和你的父亲的家，往我所要指示你的地方去。
GOD
said to Abram, “Go forth from your native land and from your father’s house to the land that I will show you.
2.我要使你成为大国，并要赐福于你，使你的名声大， 你也要成为福气。I will make of you a great nation,And I will bless you;I will make your name great,And you shall be a blessing.
3.我要赐福给那些赐福你的，咒诅那咒诅你的；地上所有的家族都要因你得福。I will bless those who bless youAnd curse the one who curses you;And all the families of the earthShall bless themselves by you.”
4.亚伯兰照着神所吩咐的行了，罗得也与他同行。亚伯兰出哈兰的时候，年七十五岁。Abram went forth as GOD had commanded him, and Lot went with him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he left Haran.
5.亚伯兰带着他的妻子撒莱和他哥哥的儿子罗得，以及他们在哈兰所积累的所有财富和所获得的人，都出发往迦南地。他们到了迦南地，Abram took his wife Sarai and his brother’s son Lot, and all the wealth that they had amassed, and the persons that they had acquired in Haran; and they set out for the land of Canaan. When they arrived in the land of Canaan,
6.亚伯兰穿过那地，直到示剑地方的摩利橡树那里。那时迦南人在那地居住。Abram passed through the land as far as the site of Shechem, at the terebinth of Moreh. The Canaanites were then in the land.
7.上帝向亚伯兰显现，说：“我要将这片土地赐给你的后代。” 亚伯兰就在上帝向他显现的地方为上帝筑了一座坛。GOD
appeared to Abram and said, “I will assign this land to your offspring.” And he built an altar there to GOD who had appeared to him.
8.他从那里往伯特利东的山地迁移，搭设帐幕，伯特利在西，艾在东。他在那里筑了一座坛，求告神的名。From there he moved on to the hill country east of Bethel and pitched his tent, with Bethel on the west and Ai on the east; and he built there an altar to GOD and invoked GOD by name.
9.随后亚伯兰逐步向南地迁移。Then Abram journeyed by stages toward the Negeb.
10.那地遭遇饥荒，亚伯兰下到埃及寄居，因为那地的饥荒很严重。There was a famine in the land, and Abram went down to Egypt to sojourn there, for the famine was severe in the land.
11.他将要进入埃及的时候，对他的妻子撒莱说，我知道你是美貌的女人。As he was about to enter Egypt, he said to his wife Sarai, “I in Judg. 5.7; Jer. 2.20; Mic. 4.13, etc. know what a beautiful woman you are.
12.如果埃及人看见你，就说你是他的妻子，他们必杀我，留你存活。If the Egyptians see you, and think, ‘She is his wife,’ they will kill me and let you live.
13.求你说你是我的姐姐，好使我因你得平安，且因你得存活。Please say that you are my sister, that it may go well with me because of you, and that I may remain alive thanks to you.”
14.亚伯兰进了埃及，埃及人看见这妇人极其美丽。When Abram entered Egypt, the Egyptians saw how very beautiful the woman was.
15.法老的臣宰看见她，就在法老面前夸赞她，于是女人被带进法老的宫里。Pharaoh’s courtiers saw her and praised her to Pharaoh, and the woman was taken into Pharaoh’s palace.
16.因为她，亚伯兰的境遇很好，他拥有了羊、牛、驴、男女奴仆、母驴和骆驼。And because of her, it went well with Abram; he acquired sheep, oxen, donkeys, male and female slaves, jennies, and camels.
17.但上帝因亚伯拉罕的妻子撒莱的缘故，重重地降灾于法老和他的全家。But GOD afflicted Pharaoh and his household with mighty plagues on account of Sarai, the wife of Abram.
18.法老召了亚伯拉罕来，对他说，你向我作了什么事呢，为什么不告诉我她是你的妻子呢Pharaoh sent for Abram and said, “What is this you have done to me! Why did you not tell me that she was your wife?
19.你为什么说她是我的妹妹，以至于我把她当作妻子？现在，她是你的妻子，拿着她走吧！Why did you say, ‘She is my sister,’ so that I took her as my wife? Now, here is your wife; take her and begone!”
20.法老派人带领他，他就带着他的妻子和他一切所有的都走了。And Pharaoh put some men in charge of him, and they sent him off with his wife and all that he possessed.
