1.摩西，耶和华的仆人死了以后，耶和华对努尼的儿子约书亚，即摩西的助手说：After the death of Moses the servant of GOD, GOD said to Joshua son of Nun, Moses’ attendant:
2.我的仆人摩西已经死了。现在你要带领这群百姓过约旦河，进入我所要赐给以色列人的地。“My servant Moses is dead. Prepare to cross the Jordan, together with all this people, into the land that I am giving to the Israelites.
3.你们的脚所踏之地，我都赐给你们，正如我所应许摩西一样。Every spot on which your foot treads I give to you, as I promised Moses.
4.你们的领地将从旷野和黎巴嫩延伸到大河，河就是幼发拉底河，东边的全地都是赫人的地，并延伸到西边的地中海。Your territory shall extend from the wilderness and the Lebanon to the Great River, the River Euphrates [on the east]—the whole Hittite country—and up to the Mediterranean Sea on the west.
5.你一生中没有人能抵挡你。我怎样与摩西同在，也必怎样与你同在。我必不撇下你，也不丢弃你。No one shall be able to resist you as long as you live. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will not fail you or forsake you.
6.要坚强勇敢，因为你要把我起誓应许他们祖先的土地分给这人民，分给他们，就是我起誓应许亚伯拉罕、以撒和雅各的土地。“Be strong and resolute, for you shall apportion to this people the land that I swore to their fathers to assign to them.
7.你必须十分强壮，坚定不移，遵守我仆人摩西所吩咐你的全部法令，不可偏离右边或左边，这样你无论往哪里去都必然成功。But you must be very strong and resolute to observe faithfully all the Teaching that My servant Moses enjoined upon you. Do not deviate from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go.
8.切不可让这训诫之书离开你的口，必须昼夜诵读，好使你谨守这书上所写的一切话。这样，你才能使你的道路亨通，凡事顺利。Let not this Book of the Teaching cease from your lips, but recite it day and night, so that you may observe faithfully all that is written in it. Only then will you prosper in your undertakings and only then will you be successful.
9.我吩咐你：要刚强壮胆，不要惧怕，也不要惊惶，因为你所侍奉的永恒的神与你同在，无论你去哪里。“I charge you: Be strong and resolute; do not be terrified or dismayed, for the ETERNAL your God is with you wherever you go.”
10.约书亚于是吩咐民众的官长说：Joshua thereupon gave orders to the officials of the people:
11.“走遍全营，对百姓说：预备食物，因为三天内你们要过约旦河，去占领耶和华你们的神所赐给你们为业的土地。“Go through the camp and charge the people thus: Get provisions ready, for in three days’ time you are to cross the Jordan, in order to enter and possess the land that the ETERNAL your God is giving you as a possession.”
12.约书亚对鲁本族、迦得族和玛拿西族半支派的人说，约书亚对鲁本人、迦得人和玛拿西半支派的人说，即他们的领袖或户主。Then Joshua said to the Reubenites, the Gadites, and the half-tribe of Manasseh,
13.记得神的仆人摩西怎样吩咐你们的时候，说‘永在的神你们的神给你们作安息之所，又将这地赐给你们’：“Remember what Moses the servant of GOD enjoined upon you, when he said, ‘The ETERNAL your God is granting you a haven and assigning this territory to you’:
14.让你的妻子、孩子和牲畜留在约旦河这边摩西给你们分配的土地上，但你们所有的战士都要全副武装地在你们各自亲属的前面渡过约旦河，并要帮助他们Let your wives, children, and livestock remain in the land that Moses assigned to you on this side of the Jordan; but every one of your fighting men shall go across armed in the van of your kindred. And you shall assist them
15.直到上帝使你们的亲属得了一处安息之所，像他已赐给你们的一样，他们也得了上帝你们的神所赐给他们的那地为业。然后你们才能回到约旦河东边的那地，就是上帝的仆人摩西所赐给你们为业的那地，你们也可以占有它。until GOD has given your kindred a haven, such as you have, and they too have gained possession of the land that the ETERNAL your God has assigned to them. Then you may return to the land on the east side of the Jordan, which Moses the servant of GOD assigned to you as your possession, and you may possess it.”
16.他们回答约书亚说，我们必遵行你所吩咐我们的，往你所差遣我们的任何地方去。They answered Joshua, “We will do everything you have commanded us and we will go wherever you send us.
17.我们必听从你，像听从摩西一样。只要永在的神你的神与你同在，像与摩西同在一样。We will obey you just as we obeyed Moses; let but the ETERNAL your God be with you as with Moses!
18.凡违抗你命令、不听从你所吩咐的一切话、必被治死。只要你刚强勇敢就行了。Anyone who flouts your commands and does not obey every order you give him shall be put to death. Only be strong and resolute!”
