《出埃及记》5 章——法老拒绝并加倍劳役

- 7.你 們 不 可 照 常 把 草 給 百 姓 做 磚 ， 叫 他 們 自 己 去 撿 草 。Ye shall no more give the people straw to make brick, as heretofore: let them go and gather straw for themselves.
- 8.他 們 素 常 做 磚 的 數 目 ， 你 們 仍 舊 向 他 們 要 ， 一 點 不 可 減 少 ； 因 為 他 們 是 懶 惰 的 ， 所 以 呼 求 說 ： 容 我 們 去 祭 祀 我 們 的 神 。And the number of the bricks, which they did make heretofore, ye shall lay upon them; ye shall not diminish aught thereof: for they are idle; therefore they cry, saying, Let us go and sacrifice to our God.

- 10.督 工 的 和 官 長 出 來 對 百 姓 說 ： 法 老 這 樣 說 ： 我 不 給 你 們 草 。And the taskmasters of the people went out, and their officers, and they spake to the people, saying, Thus saith Pharaoh, I will not give you straw.
- 11.你 們 自 己 在 那 裡 能 找 草 ， 就 往 那 裡 去 找 罷 ！ 但 你 們 的 工 一 點 不 可 減 少 。Go yourselves, get you straw where ye can find it; for nought of your work shall be diminished.
- 12.於 是 百 姓 散 在 埃 及 遍 地 ， 撿 碎 秸 當 作 草 。So the people were scattered abroad throughout all the land of Egypt to gather stubble for straw.
- 13.督 工 的 催 著 說 ： 你 們 一 天 當 完 一 天 的 工 ， 與 先 前 有 草 一 樣 。And the taskmasters were urgent, saying, Fulfil your works, your daily tasks, as when there was straw.
- 14.法 老 督 工 的 ， 責 打 他 所 派 以 色 列 人 的 官 長 ， 說 ： 你 們 昨 天 今 天 為 甚 麼 沒 有 照 向 來 的 數 目 做 磚 、 完 你 們 的 工 作 呢 ？And the officers of the children of Israel, whom Pharaoh's taskmasters had set over them, were beaten, and demanded, Wherefore have ye not fulfilled your task both yesterday and to-day, in making brick as heretofore?
- 15.以 色 列 人 的 官 長 就 來 哀 求 法 老 說 ： 為 甚 麼 這 樣 待 你 的 僕 人 ？Then the officers of the children of Israel came and cried unto Pharaoh, saying, Wherefore dealest thou thus with thy servants?
- 16.督 工 的 不 把 草 給 僕 人 ， 並 且 對 我 們 說 ： 做 磚 罷 ！ 看 哪 ， 你 僕 人 挨 了 打 ， 其 實 是 你 百 姓 的 錯 。There is no straw given unto thy servants, and they say to us, Make brick: and, behold, thy servants are beaten; but the fault is in thine own people.
- 17.但 法 老 說 ： 你 們 是 懶 惰 的 ！ 你 們 是 懶 惰 的 ！ 所 以 說 ： 容 我 們 去 祭 祀 耶 和 華 。But he said, Ye are idle, ye are idle: therefore ye say, Let us go and sacrifice to Jehovah.
- 18.現 在 你 們 去 做 工 罷 ！ 草 是 不 給 你 們 的 ， 磚 卻 要 如 數 交 納 。Go therefore now, and work; for there shall no straw be given you, yet shall ye deliver the number of bricks.
- 19.以 色 列 人 的 官 長 聽 說 你 們 每 天 做 磚 的 工 作 一 點 不 可 減 少 ， 就 知 道 是 遭 遇 禍 患 了 。And the officers of the children of Israel did see that they were in evil case, when it was said, Ye shall not diminish aught from your bricks, your daily tasks.

这段经文的意思
本章奠定了立约之神与不认识祂的帝国之间的对峙。法老所问的“耶和华是谁，使我听祂的话？”本身就是后续章节所要解答的神学问题。到了《出埃及记》末了，同样的问题已通过连埃及人自己也承认的作为得到了回答（参见所提供的交叉经文《列王纪下》18:35）。

常见问题
为什么法老在第 2 节说“耶和华是谁”？
正如第 1–2 节所记，法老明确说“我不认识耶和华”。在本章自身的文字中，他的这一问话是一种否认的声明：他拒绝承认一位他所不承认之神的权柄，而这拒绝正是后续对峙所要回应的。
在摩西和亚伦与法老说话之后，以色列人发生了怎样的变化？
