Faithfulness in Suffering: Comfort from Tobit 9
While Tobias is far from home, the angel Raphael faithfully recovers the money—God sends His messengers to bring comfort amid affliction.
The Money Recovered Then Tobi′as called Raph′ael and said to him, “Brother Azari′as, take a servant and two camels with you and go to Gab′ael at Rages in Media and get the money for me; and bring him to the wedding feast. For Rag′uel has sworn that I should not leave; but my father is counting the days, and if I delay long he will be greatly distressed.” So Raph′ael made the journey and stayed over night with Gab′ael. He gave him the receipt, and Gab′ael brought out the money bags with their seals intact and gave them to him. In the morning they both got up early and came to the wedding feast. And Gab′ael blessed Tobi′as and his wife.
Tobit 9:1-6 records the recovery of the deposit left with Gabael in Media. Raphael (still disguised as Azariah) undertakes the journey with sealed money-bags, and both he and Gabael return in time for the wedding feast. The episode quietly shows how divine providence works through obedient agents to bring resolution to a family that has endured blindness, exile, and loss.
