1.天地万物都造齐了。The heaven and the earth were finished, and all their array.
2.到第七日，神完成了他所做的所有工作，就在第七日停止了他所有的工作。On the seventh day God finished the work that had been undertaken, ceasing on the seventh day from doing any of the work.
3.上帝赐福给第七日，并将其定为圣日，就是他停止了他所创造的所有创造工作的日子。And God blessed the seventh day and declared it holy—having ceased on it from all the work of creation that God had done.

5.当时地上尚未长出田野的任何荆棘，也没有田野的任何草木，因为永在的神还没有降雨于地上，也没有人来耕作土地，when no shrub of the field was yet on earth and no grasses of the field had yet sprouted, because the ETERNAL God had not sent rain upon the earth and there were no human beings to till the soil,
6.然而有一股泉水要从地里涌出，滋润大地的全境—but a flow would well up from the ground and water the whole surface of the earth—
7.永恒的神造了一个人。虽然这个词没有性别之分，但对于古代的听众来说，所有人类血统的始祖当然是一个男性。从土壤的腐殖质中，吹入他鼻孔中的生命气息：那个人成为一个活着的存在。the ETERNAL God formed a Human. Although this term is not gendered, to the ancient audience it went without saying that the progenitor of all human lineages was a male. from the soil’s humus,. blowing into his nostrils the breath of life: the Human became a living being.
8.永在的神在伊甸园的东边造了一个园子，把他所造的人安置在那里。The ETERNAL God planted a garden in Eden, in the east, and placed there the Human who had been fashioned.
9.永恒的神使地生长出各样美观可食的树木，还有生命树和分别善恶的知识树，都在园子当中。And from the ground the ETERNAL God caused to grow every tree that was pleasing to the sight and good for food, with the tree of life in the middle of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and bad.
10.伊甸园里有一条河从那里流出来，滋润那园子，接着就分为四条支流。A river issues from Eden to water the garden, and it then divides and becomes four branches.
11.第一条河叫比逊河，流经哈腓拉全地，那里有金子。The name of the first is Pishon, the one that winds through the whole land of Havilah, where the gold is.
12.那地的金子是好的，在那里有乳香和青金石。(The gold of that land is good; bdellium is there, and lapis lazuli. uncertain.)
13.第二条河的名字叫基训河，流经古实全地。The name of the second river is Gihon, the one that winds through the whole land of Cush.
14.第三条河的名字叫底格里斯河，就是流经亚述东边的那条河。第四条河是幼发拉底河。The name of the third river is Tigris, the one that flows east of Asshur. And the fourth river is the Euphrates.
15.永恒的神将人类安置在伊甸园，使他们耕种和看守它。The ETERNAL God settled the Human in the garden of Eden, to till it and tend it.
16.永恒的神吩咐那人说，园中各样树上的果子你可以随意吃，And the ETERNAL God commanded the Human, saying, “Of every tree of the garden you are free to eat;
17.至于知善恶树，你不可吃，因为你吃的日子必定死。but as for the tree of knowledge of good and bad, you must not eat of it; for as soon as you eat of it, you shall die.”
18.永在的神说：“人独居不好，我要为他造一个配偶。”The ETERNAL God said, “It is not good for the Human to be alone; I will make a fitting counterpart for him.”
19.永恒的神从地上造出一切野地的兽和一切空中的鸟，带到人面前，看他叫什么。人怎样叫每一个活物，那就是它的名字。And the ETERNAL God formed out of the earth all the wild beasts and all the birds of the sky, and brought them to the Human to see what he would call them; and whatever the Human called each living creature, that would be its name.
20.于是，耶和华神将地上所有的牲畜和空中的鸟都带到那人面前，看他叫什么。那人怎样叫每一个活物，那就是它的名字。 那人便给一切牲畜和空中之鸟、野地之兽都命了名，只是那人没有遇见配偶。And the Human gave names to all the cattle and to the birds of the sky and to all the wild beasts; but no fitting counterpart for a human being was found.
21.于是永在的神使人沉睡，人便睡去，神就取下他的一条肋骨，又用肉把那地方封合起来。So the ETERNAL God cast a deep sleep upon the Human; and, while he slept, [God] took one of his sides and closed up the flesh at that site.
22.永恒的神将从人身上取来的那一部分塑造成一个女人，并将她带到那个人面前。And the ETERNAL God fashioned the side that had been taken from the Human into a woman, bringing her to the Human.
23.于是那人说，“这才是我的骨中之骨，肉中之肉。”这人要称为女人，因为她是从男人而来。Then the Human said,“This one at lastIs bone of my bonesAnd flesh of my flesh.This one shall be called the Woman,; i.e., the unique female participant in the situation. For from the Man; i.e., the sole (and male) participant in the original situation. was she taken.”
24.因此，人要离开父母，与妻子连合，二人成为一体，从ʼishshah而来，成为一体的肉。Hence a man. leaves his father and mother and clings to his wife,, from ʼishshah. so that they become one flesh.
25.他们两人都是赤身露体的，人类和他的妻子，却没有感到羞耻。The two of them were naked,, play on ʻarum “shrewd” in 3.1. the Human and his wife, yet they felt no shame.
