8.该隐对他哥哥亚伯说……他们在田野的时候，该隐攻击他哥哥亚伯，将他杀死。Cain said to his brother Abel … and when they were in the field, Cain set upon his brother Abel and killed him.
9.上帝对该隐说：“你哥哥亚伯在哪里？”他说：“我不知道，我岂是我的兄弟的看守？”GOD said to Cain, “Where is your brother Abel?” And he said, “I do not know. Am I my brother’s keeper?”
10.你做了什么呢，听啊，你兄弟的血从地上向我哭喊“What have you done? Hark, your brother’s blood cries out to Me from the ground!
11.因此，你将比那张开口从你手中接受你兄弟血的土地更受咒诅。Therefore, you shall be more cursed than the ground, which opened its mouth to receive your brother’s blood from your hand.
12.如果你犁翻这地，它就不再给你产生力量，你将在大地上成为一个不断流浪的人。If you till the soil, it shall no longer yield its strength to you. You shall become a ceaseless wanderer on earth.”
13.该隐对神说，我的刑罚太重了，不能承担。Cain said to GOD, “My punishment is too great to bear!
14.因为你今天把我赶出这地，我必躲避你的面，也必在地上东飘西泊，凡遇见我的人都可以杀我。Since You have banished me this day from the soil, and I must avoid Your presence and become a restless wanderer on earth—anyone who meets me may kill me!”
15.上帝对他说：“我保证，若有人杀死该隐，必受七倍的报应。”上帝在该隐身上标记一个记号，免得他所遇见的人将他杀死。GOD said to him, “I promise, if anyone kills Cain, sevenfold vengeance shall be exacted.” And GOD put a mark on Cain, lest anyone who met him should kill him.
16.该隐离开了上帝的面前，往东去到伊甸的东边，到了挪得之地，就住在那里。Cain left GOD’s presence and settled in the land of Nod, east of Eden.
17.该隐认识他的妻子，他的妻子就怀孕生了以诺。该隐建了一座城，就以他儿子以诺的名字给城命名。Cain knew his wife, and she conceived and bore Enoch. And he then founded a city, and named the city after his son Enoch.
18.以诺生伊拉德，伊拉德生米户雅勒，米户雅勒生玛土撒利，玛土撒利生拉麦。To Enoch was born Irad, and Irad begot Mehujael, and Mehujael. begot Methusael, and Methusael begot Lamech.
19.拉麦娶了两个妻子：一个的名字叫亚大，另一个的名字叫洗拉。Lamech took to himself two wives: the name of the one was Adah, and the name of the other was Zillah.

22.至于悉拉，她生了土巴该隐，他制造了各样的铜铁器具。土巴该隐的妹子是拿玛。As for Zillah, she bore Tubal-cain, who forged all implements of copper and iron. And the sister of Tubal-cain was Naamah.
23.拉麦对他的妻子们说，阿大和悉拉，听我的话；拉麦的妻子们，听我的话语。我已经杀死一个年轻人，因为他伤了我；也杀死一个少年，因为他打了我。And Lamech said to his wives,“Adah and Zillah, hear my voice;O wives of Lamech, give ear to my speech.I have slain a rival for wounding me,And a lad for bruising me.
24.若人为该隐报仇七倍，为拉麦报仇七十七倍”If Cain is avenged sevenfold,Then Lamech seventy-sevenfold.”
25.亚当又与妻子亲近，她生了一个儿子，名叫塞特，就是“神给了我另一个后代代替亚伯”，因为凯因杀了亚伯。Adam knew his wife again, and she bore a son and named him Seth, meaning, “God has provided me with, connected with “Seth.” another offspring in place of Abel,” for Cain had killed him.
