Life & Story
Born into slavery in Egypt and adopted by Pharaoh's daughter, Moses was called at the burning bush on Horeb at age eighty. He led Israel out of Egypt, through the Red Sea, and received the Ten Commandments at Sinai (Exod 3, 14, 19–20). He shepherded Israel for forty years in the wilderness and died on Mount Nebo overlooking the Promised Land (Deut 34). Jewish tradition calls him the greatest of the prophets.
