1.Entonces Jesús fue llevado por el Espíritu al desierto, para ser tentado por el diablo.Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil.
2.Y después de haber ayunado cuarenta días y cuarenta noches, tuvo hambre.And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he afterward hungered.
3.Y vino a él el tentador, y le dijo: Si eres Hijo de Dios, di que estas piedras se conviertan en pan.And the tempter came and said unto him, If thou art the Son of God, command that these stones become bread.
4.Él respondió y dijo: Escrito está: No sólo de pan vivirá el hombre, sino de toda palabra que sale de la boca de Dios.But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
5.Entonces el diablo le llevó a la santa ciudad, y le puso sobre el pináculo del templo,Then the devil taketh him into the holy city; and he set him on the pinnacle of the temple,
6.y le dijo: Si eres Hijo de Dios, échate abajo; porque escrito está: A sus ángeles mandará acerca de ti, y, En sus manos te sostendrán, Para que no tropieces con tu pie en piedra.and saith unto him, If thou art the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and, On their hands they shall bear thee up, lest haply thou dash thy foot against a stone.
7.Jesús le dijo: Escrito está también: No tentarás al Señor tu Dios.Jesus said unto him, Again it is written, Thou shalt not make trial of the Lord thy God.
8.Otra vez le llevó el diablo a un monte muy alto, y le mostró todos los reinos del mundo y la gloria de ellos,Again, the devil taketh him unto an exceeding high mountain, and showeth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them;
9.y le dijo: Todo esto te daré, si postrado me adorares.and he said unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me.
10.Entonces Jesús le dijo: Vete, Satanás, porque escrito está: Al Señor tu Dios adorarás, y a él sólo servirás.Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.
11.El diablo entonces le dejó; y he aquí vinieron ángeles y le servían.Then the devil leaveth him; and behold, angels came and ministered unto him.
12.Cuando Jesús oyó que Juan estaba preso, volvió a Galilea;Now when he heard that John was delivered up, he withdrew into Galilee;
13.y dejando a Nazaret, vino y habitó en Capernaum, ciudad marítima, en la región de Zabulón y de Neftalí,and leaving Nazareth, he came and dwelt in Capernaum, which is by the sea, in the borders of Zebulun and Naphtali:
14.para que se cumpliese lo dicho por el profeta Isaías, cuando dijo:that it might be fulfilled which was spoken through Isaiah the prophet, saying,
15.Tierra de Zabulón y tierra de Neftalí, Camino del mar, al otro lado del Jordán, alilea de los gentiles;The land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, Toward the sea, beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles,
16.El pueblo asentado en tinieblas vio gran luz; Y a los asentados en región de sombra de muerte, Luz les resplandeció.the people that sat in darkness saw a great light, and to them that sat in the region and shadow of death, to them did light spring up.
17.Desde entonces comenzó Jesús a predicar, y a decir: Arrepentíos, porque el reino de los cielos se ha acercado.From that time began Jesus to preach, and to say, Repent ye; for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.
18.Andando Jesús junto al mar de Galilea, vio a dos hermanos, Simón, llamado Pedro, y Andrés su hermano, que echaban la red en el mar; porque eran pescadores.And walking by the sea of Galilee, he saw two brethren, Simon who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea; for they were fishers.
19.Y les dijo: Venid en pos de mí, y os haré pescadores de hombres.And he saith unto them, Come ye after me, and I will make you fishers of men.
20.Ellos entonces, dejando al instante las redes, le siguieron.And they straightway left the nets, and followed him.
21.Pasando de allí, vio a otros dos hermanos, Jacobo hijo de Zebedeo, y Juan su hermano, en la barca con Zebedeo su padre, que remendaban sus redes; y los llamó.And going on from thence he saw two other brethren, James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in the boat with Zebedee their father, mending their nets; and he called them.
22.Y ellos, dejando al instante la barca y a su padre, le siguieron.And they straightway left the boat and their father, and followed him.
23.Y recorrió Jesús toda Galilea, enseñando en las sinagogas de ellos, y predicando el evangelio del reino, y sanando toda enfermedad y toda dolencia en el pueblo.And Jesus went about in all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of disease and all manner of sickness among the people.
24.Y se difundió su fama por toda Siria; y le trajeron todos los que tenían dolencias, los afligidos por diversas enfermedades y tormentos, los endemoniados, lunáticos y paralíticos; y los sanó.And the report of him went forth into all Syria: and they brought unto him all that were sick, holden with divers diseases and torments, possessed with demons, and epileptic, and palsied; and he healed them.
25.Y le siguió mucha gente de Galilea, de Decápolis, de Jerusalén, de Judea y del otro lado del Jordán.And there followed him great multitudes from Galilee and Decapolis and Jerusalem and Judaea and from beyond the Jordan.
