Life & Story
Upon ascending the throne, Solomon asked for wisdom rather than wealth, and God granted both (1 Kgs 3). He built and dedicated the Temple in Jerusalem (1 Kgs 6–8) and became renowned for wisdom and riches. Tradition credits him with Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, and Song of Songs; his later drift through foreign wives (1 Kgs 11) is both a warning and a lesson in wisdom.
