Life & Story
A shepherd boy from Bethlehem, David was anointed by Samuel (1 Sam 16) and defeated Goliath by faith (1 Sam 17). As Israel's second king he captured Jerusalem and brought the ark there (2 Sam 5–6). God covenanted that his descendant would sit on the throne forever (2 Sam 7) — the heart of messianic hope. He composed many psalms and knew deep repentance after the Bathsheba episode (Ps 51).
