1.亞 比 雅 與 他 列 祖 同 睡 ， 葬 在 大 衛 城 裡 。 他 兒 子 亞 撒 接 續 他 作 王 。 亞 撒 年 間 ， 國 中 太 平 十 年 。So Abijah slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the city of David; and Asa his son reigned in his stead. In his days the land was quiet ten years.
2.亞 撒 行 耶 和 華 ─ 他 神 眼 中 看 為 善 為 正 的 事 ，And Asa did that which was good and right in the eyes of Jehovah his God:
3.除 掉 外 邦 神 的 壇 和 邱 壇 ， 打 碎 柱 像 ， 砍 下 木 偶 ，for he took away the foreign altars, and the high places, and brake down the pillars, and hewed down the Asherim,
4.吩 咐 猶 大 人 尋 求 耶 和 華 ─ 他 們 列 祖 的 神 ， 遵 行 他 的 律 法 、 誡 命 ；and commanded Judah to seek Jehovah, the God of their fathers, and to do the law and the commandment.
5.又 在 猶 大 各 城 邑 除 掉 邱 壇 和 日 像 ， 那 時 國 享 太 平 ；Also he took away out of all the cities of Judah the high places and the sun-images: and the kingdom was quiet before him.
6.又 在 猶 大 建 造 了 幾 座 堅 固 城 。 國 中 太 平 數 年 ， 沒 有 戰 爭 ， 因 為 耶 和 華 賜 他 平 安 。And he built fortified cities in Judah; for the land was quiet, and he had no war in those years, because Jehovah had given him rest.
7.他 對 猶 大 人 說 ： 我 們 要 建 造 這 些 城 邑 ， 四 圍 築 牆 ， 蓋 樓 ， 安 門 ， 做 閂 ； 地 還 屬 我 們 ， 是 因 尋 求 耶 和 華 ─ 我 們 的 神 ； 我 們 既 尋 求 他 ， 他 就 賜 我 們 四 境 平 安 。 於 是 建 造 城 邑 ， 諸 事 亨 通 。For he said unto Judah, Let us build these cities, and make about them walls, and towers, gates, and bars; the land is yet before us, because we have sought Jehovah our God; we have sought him, and he hath given us rest on every side. So they built and prospered.
8.亞 撒 的 軍 兵 ， 出 自 猶 大 拿 盾 牌 拿 槍 的 三 十 萬 人 ； 出 自 便 雅 憫 拿 盾 牌 拉 弓 的 二 十 八 萬 人 。 這 都 是 大 能 的 勇 士 。And Asa had an army that bare bucklers and spears, out of Judah three hundred thousand; and out of Benjamin, that bare shields and drew bows, two hundred and fourscore thousand: all these were mighty men of valor.
9.有 古 實 王 謝 拉 率 領 軍 兵 一 百 萬 ， 戰 車 三 百 輛 ， 出 來 攻 擊 猶 大 人 ， 到 了 瑪 利 沙 。And there came out against them Zerah the Ethiopian with an army of a thousand thousand, and three hundred chariots; and he came unto Mareshah.
10.於 是 亞 撒 出 去 與 他 迎 敵 ， 就 在 瑪 利 沙 的 洗 法 谷 彼 此 擺 陣 。Then Asa went out to meet him, and they set the battle in array in the valley of Zephathah at Mareshah.
11.亞 撒 呼 求 耶 和 華 ─ 他 的 神 說 ： 耶 和 華 啊 ， 惟 有 你 能 幫 助 軟 弱 的 ， 勝 過 強 盛 的 。 耶 和 華 ─ 我 們 的 神 啊 ， 求 你 幫 助 我 們 ； 因 為 我 們 仰 賴 你 ， 奉 你 的 名 來 攻 擊 這 大 軍 。 耶 和 華 啊 ， 你 是 我 們 的 神 ， 不 要 容 人 勝 過 你 。And Asa cried unto Jehovah his God, and said, Jehovah, there is none besides thee to help, between the mighty and him that hath no strength: help us, O Jehovah our God; for we rely on thee, and in thy name are we come against this multitude. O Jehovah, thou art our God; let not man prevail against thee.
12.於 是 耶 和 華 使 古 實 人 敗 在 亞 撒 和 猶 大 人 面 前 ， 古 實 人 就 逃 跑 了 ；So Jehovah smote the Ethiopians before Asa, and before Judah; and the Ethiopians fled.
13.亞 撒 和 跟 隨 他 的 軍 兵 追 趕 他 們 ， 直 到 基 拉 耳 。 古 實 人 被 殺 的 甚 多 ， 不 能 再 強 盛 ， 因 為 敗 在 耶 和 華 與 他 軍 兵 面 前 。 猶 大 人 就 奪 了 許 多 財 物 ，And Asa and the people that were with him pursued them unto Gerar: and there fell of the Ethiopians so many that they could not recover themselves; for they were destroyed before Jehovah, and before his host; and they carried away very much booty.
14.又 打 破 基 拉 耳 四 圍 的 城 邑 ； 耶 和 華 使 其 中 的 人 都 甚 恐 懼 。 猶 大 人 又 將 所 有 的 城 擄 掠 一 空 ， 因 其 中 的 財 物 甚 多 ，And they smote all the cities round about Gerar; for the fear of Jehovah came upon them: and they despoiled all the cities; for there was much spoil in them.
15.又 毀 壞 了 群 畜 的 圈 ， 奪 取 許 多 的 羊 和 駱 駝 ， 就 回 耶 路 撒 冷 去 了 。They smote also the tents of cattle, and carried away sheep in abundance, and camels, and returned to Jerusalem.
