내 도움은 하늘과 땅을 지으신 이에게서 온다
산들이 그 그림자를 드리울 때, 믿음은 우리 시선을 높임에서 가장 높으신 이—잠들지 않으시는 보시는 이—로 들어올린다.
A song for ascents.I turn my eyes to the mountains;from where will my help come? My help comes from GOD,maker of heaven and earth. [God] will not let your foot give way;your guardian will not slumber. See, the guardian of Israelneither slumbers nor sleeps! GOD is your guardian, GOD is your protectionat your right hand. By day the sun will not strike you,nor the moon by night. GOD will guard you from all harm, and will guard your life. GOD will guard your going and comingnow and forever.
Psalm 121 is one of the Songs of Ascents, sung by Hebrew pilgrims as they ascended toward the temple mount in Jerusalem. Its eight verses open with a question — 'From where does my help come?' — and then unfold six times around a single Hebrew verb, shamar (שָׁמַר), 'to guard,' like six bolts across a door.
