Called in the days of King Josiah, Jeremiah served through Judah's final kings and witnessed the fall of Jerusalem to Babylon. Known as the weeping prophet for his messages of judgment, he also announced a new covenant written on the heart (Jer 31:31–34). Jeremiah 29:11, 'plans to give you hope and a future,' is often quoted — best understood within the context of exile and return.
